"We do not feast on animals," the Monkey King remarked. "Hopefully the food is to your liking."

"Thank you for your hospitality," Xie Jianyu remarked.

They ate in silence for some time before Zhang Fengxi raised the question.

"What do you want out of this riot?"

The Monkey King’s gaze hardened.

"Our rightful place at the Heavenly Realm of course."

"What good is it for you? Do you not enjoy being King of your own clan, with your own territories to claim in the Human Realm?"

The Monkey King broke a watermelon with his bare hands and distributed the chunks to his guests.

"We want to keep our territories in the Human Realm as well as our autonomy. This is all a matter of pride."

As Zhang Fengxi expected, the Monkey King refused to be honest with them.

"You cannot keep your autonomy. Once you stand under the Heavenly Empire’s flagship, you must bend your knees before every imperial edict," Xie Jianyu said in a stern voice that allowed no room for a discussion.

The Monkey King whipped at Xie Jianyu with a glare.

"The Heavenly Realm has not done anything for the monkey clan in the past thousands of years. Why must we bend our knees before the Heavenly Emperor?"

"That is what you said, but you still want to claim your rightful spot in heaven," Zhang Fengxi remarked. "It is impossible to get the best of the two worlds."

"It is not impossible if I conquer the heaven," the Monkey King declared.

Conquering heaven was not an easy task, but the man managed to wreak chaos in heaven single-handedly in the past. He was a precious talent. It was a pity to kill him.

"If you choose violence, one bloodbath will call for another. Do you really want to start the inevitable chain of revenge?"

Xie Jianyu’s eyes were full of reproach. For a split second, the Monkey King shrank under his gaze.

"If I just want to kill, I won’t bother to talk," he said in an attempt to appear in a better light in front of the Crown Prince.

The Monkey King grunted in displeasure. He nodded toward a servant who was waiting on them.

They asked for a private chamber, but every floor consisted only of one big hall. In the end, the servant led them to a beautiful, secluded balcony at the far end of the room.

That was as private as it got in the Monkey Palace.

"Fengxi, what are you trying to do?" Xie Jianyu asked as soon as the servant turned around and left. "I thought that you were here to talk."

"That guy is a stubborn bloke. He won’t talk unless we beat some sense into him."

Xie Jianyu crossed his hands in front of his chest, his lips pursed full of indignation.

"I am not going to gang up on him. That is a cowardly and despicable thing to do."

As expected of the Crown Prince.

Zhang Fengxi smiled. He cupped Xie Jianyu’s face in his palms and gave the Crown Prince a peck on the lips.

"Of course not, Jianbao. All you need to do right now is watch me beat him up, and cheer for me when I win."
