"Dad, I’m going", I told him as I ran for school.

It’s been a month since I convinced dad I can go to school alone, so he never stopped me. But the only sad thing is I don’t have anyone to go with me. I’m still alone in school.

I kept walking when I hit my head with someone.

"Ouch, can’t you see properly?" I shouted it without looking at who it was.

"Oh, sorry we didn’t see you", I heard a girl’s voice. But it was more like someone was being sarcastic to me.

I caressed my feet and looked up when I found Aaron and one of my classmates. I don’t know her name, but yeah, I know her.

"Are you ok", Aaron’s voice was low as if he didn’t even want to say anything to me.

"Yeah, I’m ok", I somehow felt betrayed. I know he is only my bench mate, but that doesn’t mean he can’t talk with anyone. That doesn’t mean he can’t walk with someone, but still, I feel as if something is kept snatching away from me.

"Sorry, Ayla, we are getting late, so", she said and pulled his hand.

"Oh yeah, we are late too", it was not me.

I turned toward my back and found James.

"We are running too late. Aren’t we?" he asked me as if he was waiting for my response.

"Oh yeah? Why are you so late?" I went with him.

"I forgot my note", he chuckled naturally, but I couldn’t seem to act normal even though I know James is the one I love.

"Oh, you are with him?" Aaron said in a low tone.

I couldn’t see his expressions, but yeah, he looked happy with the girl. Maybe they are in a relationship.

"Yeah, sorry for delaying", I forced a smile and went with him.

We didn’t talk about anything on our way. James was silent as well as I’m. It’s been days when the awkward space keeps growing big between us. Maybe when I read the diary and found out what feelings I had for him in the past. Or is it the feelings never erased in the first place?

"You ok?" James finally asked.

"Yeah, why do you ask?"

"I thought you were in a dilemma."

"Do you care for me?"

"Who will care for a brat? It was Jace who made me come with you." He laughed while my facial expression was gloomier than before.

I wanted to ask if you have to bring Jace here but I couldn’t. I again hid but the moment we reached the school I ran inside. I didn’t look back at all. I kept running and stopped at my class.

They were already reached while that same girl with Aaron was already sitting in my chair. I still walked close to her and said, "Can you please move?" my voice was low.

"You can sit somewhere else", she ignored me completely. That was my place, but she is telling me to sit somewhere else. How laughable.

"It is my seat and there is no empty seat", I again said.

"You can sit in my place", she said and again ended up talking with him. He was stealing a glance toward me, but he didn’t bother to get involved as if it was already happening.

I looked at her place when I found out her friends kept glaring at me. No, I can’t go to the place.

"It’s already time, so can’t you go to your place?" I said again.

But she hurried and got up from my seat making me think I finally succeeded but it wasn’t the case.

"Can’t you hear when I’m telling you calmly?"

"Why are you kept mumbling, it’s my seat, my seat again and again chewing my head?"

"Didn’t I say sit in my place? Or you can’t even hear whatever I’m saying?"

"You can’t hear my words? Or you just don’t fucking want to understand?" she raised her hand, making me flinch.

I quickly hide my face, but my body is shivering.

"Gosh, I can’t even touch you, let alone hit you." She kept moving in front of me, making me even more scared.

"You know why no one wants to talk to you let alone be with you."

"You are nothing but a bad omen. You keep ruining everyone’s life wherever you go."

"You ruined that girl’s life and now ended up coming here being all innocent. Do you think we won’t know?" she kept coming forward but her feet halted.

"Mia, stop it", I heard Aaron’s voice.

"What?"

"Stop all this. This is enough. You were at fault." He said.

Is he siding with me?

"You know no one talks to her but you are still pushing her to go sit there? What do you even expect from her?" he said.

"Are you siding with her? You must have lost your mind right?" she said.

"Did you forget the police even interrogated you for this girl and you are siding with her? You must lose it. Aaron, when did you end up like this girl? I never knew you were that fund of hers?"

Gosh, I can’t keep up with this.

"I’m not siding with her. I’m only stating what is right. I too came to school when she came so I understand", he said.

"Yeah, I too don’t know why you came here when she came, but all I can say is you and she is not the same. You both can’t be alike. You didn’t make yourself a victim like her to keep others in your palm. You didn’t send one to jail. You didn’t make one’s child a hell before it could even start, so stop comparing yourself to her. Because she is not worth it."

My entire body is shivering hearing everything. I thought now I can make friends as we are on the verge of finishing this year and only finals have to finish but the more I’m going forward the more I keep losing myself. On the first day of school, this guy talked with me as if I were familiar with him. My parents told me that I only lose my memory because I hit my head while coming downstairs but this all seems like now.

I have no idea who is telling me the truth or who is lying.

My head is in a mess which I couldn’t even control.

My feet are turning cold and I feel sweat inside my shoes. My eyelid kept closing slowly. I couldn’t feel the surface under my feet but the moment I closed my eyes I saw someone calling my name in full of affection which I may have forgotten long ago.

Who is it?

Whose hand seems so warm to my skin even though I feel my entire body freezing?

Are you my saviour?

Maybe an angel.

I wanted to laugh, but I don’t have that much strength left.

I do not know how long I keep closing my eyes, but I could hear someone calling my name.

Who are you? Why does your voice sound full of pain? Who am I to you? Why are you shedding tears for me? What is our relationship? I needed to ask a lot, but I felt as if someone was stopping me from saying.

In hospital

"Why is she not waking up?" Mr White asked.

"We were too unaware of the situation. She has some past medical records?" the doctor asked.

"Yeah she has", Mr White said and handed him her reports.

He kept on observing the files for a while.

"Does she not remember anything till now?" he asked.

"No, but sometimes she is sure to tell me if she saw some memory of her as a dream but now from the last six months she stopped sharing that too." He said.

"I too can’t say anything. Maybe she felt some feelings which were like her experiences, which made her lose her consciousness."

As the doctor said, he turned to Jace.

"Tell me what is going on?" His voice was strict.

"I... do not know", he replied in a low tone.

"What are you doing, then? Do you think I got over the pain from that year? No, right? Then why didn’t you look up to her", his voice raised.

"Dad, it is not my fault", he said, making the situation worse.

"What did you say?" His voice lowered.

"Yeah, I may have handled the past, but now I’m not. I can look after her outside of class, but how could you expect me to look after her every time? Dad, I too go there to study. Can’t you treat me the same way you do for her? Can’t you look at me the way you look at her?"

His words made the situation worse.

Everyone was silent and no one had any idea what could make things good.
