"Hey", I called someone from Jace’s class.

"Hey, aren’t you Ayla? Jace’s sister?" that guy replied while I was standing there with an awkward face.

"Do you want me to call your brother? Wait a minute I m calling him", he said while I pulled his shirt again and again so that he won’t call him but in the end, I ended up standing in front of him.

I didn’t talk with him properly after that day. Why the hell did he even call him? I wonder.

"Ayla, you need something?" he asked.

I shared my head as a no but I was reluctant to move from my place.

"Ayla", he again called my name.

"Tell me if you need something", he said.

"Ahh did you see Brother James?" I asked.

"James?"

I nodded.

"Wait, let me check", he said and went inside again.

I was still waiting outside for him. He took long enough but at last, he came outside with an awkward face.

"Did you find him?" I asked.

"Ah no, maybe he went to the canteen", he said but I’m sure he is lying.

I still went with his lie with a smile and walked toward the canteen while pretending to be finding him. I know he was avoiding me even my brother supported him but still I wanted to talk to him once.

I turned to leave when I find Aaron in front of me.

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

"Nothing, I was searching for brother James", I said.

"Wasnt he just came out from his class and walked toward the ground?" he said.

So I was right. Brother indeed lied to me and went with him. Ha, how pathetic.

"Oh ok I m going to class", I said and started walking toward class.

"Did he reject you?" he asked making my feet stop.

"What did you say?" my voice was very slow which was even hard to audible even if someone was close to me.

"I asked if he reject you", he asked again.

"I don’t know", I know the response was so damn empty.

"Why are you running after him then?" His questions are always odd.

"Why am I running after him? I don’t know. Maybe because I want to." I said and left leaving him alone.

It’s been days, and today Yona will come to my home to stay. I’m going to be alone, but I still have to endure.

At home

"Yona, how’s your trip here?" Dad was waking Yona when I entered.

"It was all good. I was very happy to come here. I don’t even remember when I was the last here but now when I have the chance I want to make use of it while spending my time with you, aunt, Jace and Ayla", she said when her eyes fell on me.

"Ayla, you came? Gosh, you have grown. I feel like a grandma of yours as if I saw you growing up", she said and hugged me while I hugged her back too.

"Jace, you too came. I missed you a lot buddy. See I brought all of my video games so that we could play together", she said whole head locking Jace.

This is what I was scared of. It’s not that she doesn’t treat me well. It’s just when Yona and Jace meet each other they forget my existence as if they can’t even see I’m here.

"I m going to my room", I said when Yona stopped me.

"Wait, let me see your room too", she said and tagged me.

I didn’t say anything and brought her to my room while she made herself home.

"Ayla", all of sudden she called out my name.

"Is it true?" she asked.

"What is it?" I asked.

"About your memory?"

"How do you know?" I asked.

"Uncle told me about you losing your memory", she said making me clench my fist.

"Yeah I did", I replied.

"You don’t remember what happened last year?" she asked again.

"Yeah, I don’t," I replied.

"You know I kind of imagine it as if it is a movie and you are the lead."

"It’s nothing like that."

"It is. Just see you lose your memory injuring your head but you still keep getting visions of the past so maybe there was a male lead who broke your heart and you ended up forgetting everything?" she said, making me angry.

"Didn’t I say there is nothing like this?" My voice was a bit loud.

"Woah Woah, why are you getting angry? I was just joking. It’s nothing serious." she parted my shoulder but I think the joke is getting too much for me.

I was somehow trying to keep myself calm while staying with her so I didn’t say anything. We even had dinner together which was good too. I had fun. Everyone was talking up like other days as Yona is a complete extrovert and once someone will meet her she will make the person go crazy like how she is chewing my head from the moment she comes.

It kind of makes me laugh.

"Hey Ayla, let’s watch a movie tonight just like how Jace, me and you used to watch," she said while I smiled.

After dinner, we went to Jace’s room while Jace and Yona arranged the projector. I simply waited for them to finish but the way they kept talking it was delayed. But finally, they did it.

"It’s done now, it’s movie time", she screamed, making me go deaf.

"Yeah yeah", it sure was sarcastic.

The movie started.

"Is it horror", the moment I came to know it was already too late?

"Yeah you guessed it," she smirked while I squeezed myself behind them.

They laughed at me at first but somehow I managed to watch it. But there was a scene in the movie where the main character was walking in a dark room while she was holding a flashlight in her hand calling, "Is there anyone in this place?" The way she was asking it kept giving me goosebumps while I watched.

"Is there anyone here?" she again asked while I was looking with anticipation.

Someone just slid from the corridor as well. I’m getting scared as if someone is behind me and looking at me.

"Who is it?"

"Reveal yourself." her voice kept stuttering while she kept moving forward.

"Who is it?" she asked but all of sudden someone placed a hand on her shoulder but at the same time I felt a hand on my shoulder too.

I was getting scared but I turned back the way she did but the moment someone screamed in my ear loud while someone jumped on me. It was none other than Jace and Yona.

I was almost on the verge of tears. I never felt this frightened in my entire life but they gave me experience.

I didn’t say anything for a while their laughter too started to subside.

"Ayla", Jace called me.

"Ayla, sorry it was my fault", Yona too said but when I looked up tears were already uncontrollable. It keeps coming out of my eyes. I cried loudly. I could feel my entire body is hot as well but they forgot to know about my situation.

I don’t know if Yona knows about this or not but Jace knows how much I hate the dark. And my fear was already too much after my memory loss because I kept getting those scary visions.

"Don’t cry Ayla, I’m sorry. Brother is accepting his fault," he said but my heart kept thumping louder even now.

I tried to wipe my tears when I heard a beep on my phone.

"Who could it be?" I thought.

I whipped my tears and picked up my phone to see when I saw an unknown number on my screen.

"Who is it?" I messaged.

I waited a few minutes to get a reply but it was faster than I thought.

"It’s James", he replied, making my heart beat faster.

I kept telling myself yeah finally I got a hold of him but somehow I’m scared of what he wanted to say which made him get my number and message me this late.

While I was thinking I get another message, "Tomorrow meet me after school."

Tomorrow?

A meeting with him?

What does he want to say?

Does he want to reject me?

Yeah maybe.

"Ayla", finally I heard they are still looking at me with those pity eyes.

"It’s ok", I said and walked toward my room.

"Ayla, watch till the end. I swear I won’t scare you", Yona said.

"No, I have school. You two watch and when you finish come and sleep I never lock the door", I said and left.

"Oh ok but still I’m sorry", she is still repeating the same but I no longer worry about that. As there is another thing worrying me as I’m going to get rejected by my first love.
