Chapter 257: Showdown Between Father and Daughter

Arkiam watched enraged, his fists balling so tightly that electricity crackled on his bleached knuckles as Siroos and Cassandra were lost in the taste of each other’s lips. The very current ran in his veins.

He stood up from his throne and thundered that the whole island shook under his rage.

"Let’s get this done with."

Siroos took his time letting go of his mate.

"Give him hell," he determinedly whispered in Cassandra’s ear.

"I will." She let her hands linger on her mate’s chest before pulling them away. The bond opened their hearts further and his strength leaked into her heart, reinforcing her further.

Their eyes held each other in a profound deep understanding. The gold and violet swirled and mingled.

Before they pulled apart. Siroos reluctantly stepped aside. Duskborn growled in his head and so did his other spirits.

’He better not hurt, mate,’ Duskborn blazed, and Siroos agreed.

Cassandra took the centre position. She was all set in the special costume her mother had constructed for her. She was ready to battle her father. The love of the people important in her life surrounded her like an impenetrable shield, something Arkiam lacked and couldn’t see due to his inflated ego.

Arkiam’s sentinels stepped back, leaving the place open and he stepped forward carrying his royal staff. Some rushed away to spread the word to other gods of what was about to take place.

"You will regret this, Asara. Kalthian would have been the best option for you but you are so much like your mother. Soft and desperate for attention." He thumped his staff on the ground, and the energy rippled out of it, obliterating everything in its path.

But it died the moment it reached Cassandra, unable to get past that lilac-gold halo of pulsating energy and protection around her.

"And you are a cheater and masochist. Let’s do this, FATHER," she shouted the last with a mixture of disgust and hatred.

The battle began, the heated clash of father and daughter duo as she hurled the exploding ball of energy his way.

He shifted his arms and blocked it with his staff but the blast was so powerful, he was forced to repel back.

Arkiam gritted his teeth and attacked. The battle began its fever pitch.

Asara, the Goddess of Love, stood defiant against her father, Arkiam, the God of Thunder.

The radiant light of her Radiant Orb pulsed in time with her heartbeat, each pulse brighter and more searing than the last as she was lithe on her feet and attacked him simultaneously, not remaining in the same position for more than a few seconds.

Arkiam’s war staff crackled with furious energy, as he charged forward with his face twisted in wrath and cackling electricity rippled over his whole body.

"You dare defy me, child?" he roared, his voice boomed like the thunder that echoed in the heavens. Lightning surged through like bolts striking the stormstone floor, shattering it into jagged shards.

Asara, her lilac-golden wings shot as she flew sideways, evading his attacks while raising her shield of light, deflecting the bolts that rained down upon her. "Your reign of fear ends here, Father," she declared, her voice steady despite the storm’s chaos. "The world no longer bends to your tyranny."

Siroos watched with his knuckles pressed tightly between his teeth. His blue shield remained intact around him, shielding him from ricocheting shards of electric bolts and shattered ground fragments which heavily polluted the air.

Arkiam swung his staff

with relentless force, each strike shaking the island and the whole realm with it.

Asara moved with precision, her shield absorbing the brunt of the attacks as she darted through the air. Her Radiant Orb blazed brighter as she hurled it again; its heat melted the columns, soared through them and landed on the throne behind Arkiam.

Before his very eyes, his precious throne half-melted into streams and flowed down on the floor like a torrent of lava.

Arkiam’s head turned and he bellowed like a madman, seeing his throne in tatters. Siroos let out a burst of laughter and Cassandra smirked, halting mid-air as her mesmerising wings flapped behind her, thrumming with energy.

The other gods had begun to gather, transporting themselves as the news of the battle reached them. They remained at a distance but watched with interest. Some seemed utterly shocked at Asara’s audacity to challenge her father.

Kalthian shimmered into existence as well, in a flaming vermilion and gold gown like an oversized phoenix. The gown cinched at his waist with a tightly held gold belt. His long flaming hair flowed like a waterfall of fire behind him.

His deep red magnetic eyes took Asara in with a hungered greed as he hovered in the air but kept a safe distance from the raging battle.

She gave him a dismissive shake of the head. Her mate will deal with him, and this time, she will watch like a queen.

Siroos’s insides tightened seeing the smug bastard; the storm of revenge brewed inside of him, threatening to spill free and end his wretched life. But he stayed put, for the sake of his mate.

He would get his turn once Asara ended this battle.

Arkiam cursed, his eyes had bolts of thunder dancing in them. He brought both his hands down, and a fierce storm brewed forth; the sky split open as the focal point was Asara.

She strengthened her shield, her costume and wings sputtered out waves of cosmic energy that absorbed Arkiam’s attack and diffused it into the ground below. It injured her but only slightly.

Cassandra, like a vixen, dived with it and acted like she had been hit with the attack.

~Boom~

The thunder fell and blasted out the very foundation, sending thousands of splintered rocks in every direction. A huge crater was formed where the impact had taken place. Layers and layers of dust rose, and for a few seconds, everyone went blind.

Only raised heartbeats thumped with anticipation of what had taken place. Siroos’s agitation grew.

’Cassaa! Are you injured?’ He asked through the bond, frantically searching for his mate.

’I am uninjured, Siro. Don’t worry,’ she assured him, but knew this was a hidden opportunity.

It turned into the battle’s turning point. Her sharp eyes observed where her raging father was. The circumstances had made him livid. His inability to break through her defence was infuriating him more and more.

But he assumed a momentary victory. He stepped closer, expecting to see the battered remains of his daughter when she emerged like a purple phoenix and hurled the Radiant Orb directly at her father. The orb collided with his chest, its searing energy breaking through his lightning-forged armour and sending him crashing to the ground. The God of Thunder roared in pain, his weapon clattering from his grasp.

Asara flew forward and picked up his staff. The crowd of gods gasped in astonished breaths.

"You are no match for love’s power," Asara said, descending to the broken floor. Her wings shimmered faintly as she stepped closer to Arkiam, her shield still glowing.

Arkiam, kneeling, his armour cracked and glowing red-hot. He snarled in defiance. "You think you’ve won? I am the storm itself!" Summoning the last of his strength, he raised his hand to call down a massive bolt of lightning from the clouds above.

But Asara was ready. With a fluid motion, she took out her dagger and transformed it into a gleaming dagger of light, its blade sharp and radiant. She lunged forward just as the bolt began to descend, her shield absorbing its energy and amplifying it through the dagger. The weapon plunged into Arkiam’s chest, its brilliance overwhelming the storm.

"No longer will the world suffer under your wrath," Asara whispered, her voice heavy with sorrow.

Arkiam’s eyes widened, his defiance fading as the radiant energy coursed through him, extinguishing his divine strength. Asara stepped back, her wings outstretched, as the dagger in her hand transformed into a larger blade, glimmering with the authority of her triumph.

Raising the blade high, she hesitated for a heartbeat, gazing at the broken figure of the god who had been her father. Then, with a decisive strike, she brought the blade down, severing his head. The act was swift and final, the head of the Thunder God rolled to the molten ground.

The storm clouds above began to dissipate, the place bathed in a strange, serene light. Asara stood amidst the ruins, her wings shimmering with renewed brilliance. The throne was gone, and the storm silenced. She looked down at the lifeless body of Arkiam, her expression one of quiet resolve.

Reaching forward she stole the thunder that existed in his body and transferred the power to the dagger she had used. It was the same weapon Faris had gifted her on her bonding ceremony. She had just turned it into one of the most powerful weapons to ever exist.

The hordes of gods watching and observing were baffled beyond means at what they had just witnessed.

"This is not the end, but a new beginning," she murmured. Asara turned, stepping through the wreckage. Her Radiant Orb glowing faintly in her hand. Behind her, the world began to shift, no longer ruled by fear and wrath, but by the enduring strength of love.

Her destination was her ear-to-ear grinning mate and his waiting arms.
